Candi Gambar Wetan ini dekat dengan Candi Penataran yang berjarak sekitar 7 km ke arah utara.&nbsp; Candi ini hingga saat ini masih terus dilakukan penggalian secara bertahap karena konon Candi Gambar Wetan ini lebih besar daripada Candi Penataran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"468\" src=\"https:\/\/candi.nusantara360.id\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/candi.nusantara360.id\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/image-4.png 624w, https:\/\/candi.nusantara360.id\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/image-4-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><figcaption>Candi Gambar Wetan<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Candi Gambar Wetan ditemukan oleh petugas perkebunan yang dilanjutkan penggalian pada tahun 1992. Sebelum diresmikan oleh pemerintah, candi ini sudah dijarah oleh warga untuk diambil reliefnya. Bahkan pada masa penjajahan Belanda, relief candi ini digunakan sebagai pajangan. Namun sudah diambil alih pemerintah dan dimasukkan ke museum. Candi yang terletak di lereng Gunung Kelud dan di tepian Sungai Bladak ini memiliki kisah sejarah yang berhubungan dengan kerajaan Majapahit.
